"Pure revenge" as we know the title of the book and from the first moment I got it in my hands, I wanted to decipher it. The word "pure" as an aggressive definition of the word "revenge" I don't know about you, but to me it sounds contradictory, cynical and somewhat incongruous.
Watch out! I do not claim that the author has fallen into any interpretative error, but perhaps she wanted to give us some other key element about the case through this special "marriage" of the two words? Is the word "pure" personified? Who will this Agni be and why does she intend to take some revenge? Did Agni desire a pure, -in her own opinion-, revenge? Or are we talking about a successful pun by the author? Fortunately for us, the first answers will come to us from the summary, which I am quoting to you right away.
"'I am Agni and I own what I want to own. Whatever and whoever I decide. All the rest are just collateral casualties in a war to conquer my own top. I will not hesitate to take out anyone who dares to stand in the way of my plans. I am Agni and Vengeance is all MINE!" Haris, Arianna, Agni. Three completely different people, a strong bond and a sick passion. How does your life change when you know true love? How easily do you let go of the past and what if it doesn't want to leave you? Haris has a free relationship with Agni. He doesn't care about commitment until he meets Arianna. He follows his heart without a second thought. But Agni has a different opinion. The emptiness of his absence takes her mind into uncharted territory. Nothing is over each other, instead everything now begins. In mind games nothing is as it seems..."
So, reading the book, I have to tell you that it was a very pleasant surprise the way in which the author presents us with specific issues that as a society we either do not understand, or - incorrectly in my opinion - have a prejudice due to the lack of the necessary knowledge , but also because of the general climate to be considered by a large part of the citizens as taboo. The author comes and with due respect and attention will talk about them. That is, issues that directly or indirectly concern all of us and that we should not snub or ignore. It will open a "window" so that we can face and accept them. Let's not be afraid of them. Don't think of them as dangerous (in and out of quotes). And she achieves this with the directness of her speech. Uses familiar vocabulary and phrases. The examples are taken from everyday life and combined with how realistic and accessible the characters in the text are for us, the result is a highly understandable book.
In short, we are talking about a book that perfectly combines the continuous action, the strong but within permissible limits tendency of sensuality with the social element completely defending the genre to which it belongs. This is one of the most interesting and alternative social novels I have read to date and it makes me believe that from now on these books will acquire an air of rejuvenation and freshness that will satisfy a larger percentage of the reading public. A book that I recommend you to read as well.
Good reading!
K. – Pure revenge
Pure revenge. Can a revenge be pure? This is exactly what I had in mind while reading the book. The 600 pages flowed like water and when I closed it I was sad. Even if it was that much, I would read it. Love in the foreground and mental illness on the other. I don't know why you market it as a social novel. He doesn't deserve it as he is relegated wearing only this title. Agni inherited mental illnesses from the day she was born and I love that a book touched so carefully on a subject that is hardly touched by authors. I hadn't read another book by Foskolou but it definitely won me over and I will look for more of hers.
K. – Pure revenge
This is the author's third social novel and undoubtedly my favorite. The development of the writing is evident. Strong and vivid descriptions, vivid and well-written characters and a plot that is clever and special.
The author never ceases to amaze with her ideas and her ingenuity. I like that each book has a different message.
I really liked and appreciated the fact that although the author chose to write about an issue as delicate as mental illness, she did so with great care and respect. In addition, it seems that she herself had done some personal research in order to gather all the necessary information.
If you love social novels, then I think Pure Revenge deserves a place in your library!
K. – Pure revenge
Foskolou's third written work in a row and its writing style and development is noticeable from all sides. Descriptions that take your breath away either because of the action or because of the intense eroticism that hovers in the atmosphere.
Once again he chooses a social novel which does what it should do. He shines his light and his attention on social issues that modern Greek society may still consider taboo and turn a blind eye to. Social issues such as mental health and the need for a better planet.
Apart from the strong romance that unfolds between Arianna, Harry and Agni, I can't help but notice how carefully everything is written about mental illness. It seems that the author has studied and rendered the paranoid type disorder in a very nice way. It recognizes and reminds that mental illness is not something to be treated like a cholera epidemic. It exists around us and we must stop closing our eyes when we consider that it does not concern us and touches us.
What I also found innovative was the choice of a female protagonist with a strictly vegetarian diet and choosing a more ecological lifestyle (veganism). It's something that I personally really appreciated and was blown away by the little details that she has put into her book and really what a vegan would do on a daily basis. This book will shed some light into the darkness of this lifestyle.
The pure revenge comes to give answers to small questions that are floating and to destroy perceptions about both of these issues.
